Ryukyu Kobudo Shimbukan - Traditional Okinawan Weapons
We are honored to announce that we are a dokokai for Ryukyu Kobudo Shimbukan. Ryukyu Kobudo Shimbukan is a young association with a very strong international presence. Shimbukan teaches traditional weapons martial arts. The weapons taught are Bo, Sai, Nunchaku, Tekko, Tunfa, Tinbe, Kama and Ekku.
The Shimbukan Dojo was first opened in 1971 by Eisuke Akamine Sensei. He taught both traditional Ryukyu Kobudo and Shorin Ryu Karate. In 1999 Eisuke Akamine Dai Sensei passed away and the Shimbukan Dojo was taken over by his son Hiroshi Akamine Sensei. In 2012 Akamine Sensei decided to resign from his previous association and start Ryukyu Kobudo Shimbukan. There are many dojos world wide.
